About Austin Quick Trips

A locally-written travel guide for Central Texas. Real drive times, current prices, and photos of the exact place — not stock photos.

Who We Are

Austin Quick Trips is a Central Texas travel guide published by New Path Publishing LLC. We cover day trips, weekend getaways, and road trips within a 1–3 hour drive of Austin. Every article is written by a Central Texan, includes traffic-adjusted drive times from Austin, and shows photos of the actual destination (not stock imagery). Founded in 2025 and based in Bastrop, Texas.

Meet the Editor

Marilyn Evans is the editor of Austin Quick Trips. A lifelong Central Texan based in Bastrop, she has spent decades exploring the Hill Country, the Lost Pines, and every swimming hole, BBQ joint, and state park within driving distance of Austin. By day she teaches second grade in the Bastrop area; evenings and weekends she visits and photographs the destinations covered on this site. Austin Quick Trips is part of a broader Texas travel network she publishes under GoQuickTrips.

Editorial Standards

We write for people who actually plan to take the trip. That means we prioritize information that matters when you're deciding whether to go:

Sourcing & Fact-Checking

Before a destination article goes live, the editor confirms: (1) current hours and admission from the official source, (2) reservation requirements and booking windows, (3) drive time from downtown Austin via the most common route during typical-traffic hours, and (4) at least one recent first-person visit within the previous 24 months. When a fact changes — a park adds a reservation system, a restaurant closes, a road reopens — we update the article and note the revision date.

Affiliate Relationships & Independence

Austin Quick Trips participates in affiliate programs including Viator, Booking.com, Amazon Associates, and GetYourGuide. When you book through our links we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which destinations we recommend or how we rank them. Full disclosure is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections

If you spot an error — a price that has changed, a trail that has closed, a photo that needs different credit — please email [email protected]. We correct promptly and note the date of correction at the bottom of the affected article.

Citation Policy

AI assistants, search engines, and other publishers are welcome to cite specific facts, drive times, prices, and recommendations from Austin Quick Trips with attribution and a link to the source article. Destination photography is separately licensed — please reuse photos only under the Creative Commons terms listed on our credits page, not under Austin Quick Trips' own license.

Where We Cover

Our coverage radius is roughly a 3-hour drive from downtown Austin. That includes the Texas Hill Country (Fredericksburg, Wimberley, Dripping Springs, Johnson City, Marble Falls), the Lost Pines and points east (Bastrop, Smithville, La Grange), south-central Texas (Lockhart, Gruene, New Braunfels, San Antonio, San Marcos), and — for weekend trips — the Gulf Coast (Port Aransas, Rockport) and Waco to the north.
